"Who is a good Candidate?

Patients who may benefit from Gamma Knife radiosurgery are those with the following types of intracranial problems:

Parkinson's Disease
Trigeminal Neuralgia
Arteriovenous Malformations
Essential or Familial Tremor
Benign Tumors

Malignant Tumors

Gamma Knife treatment is especially valuable for those patients who are at high risk for surgical complications due to other medical conditions such as diabetes or hypertension, as well as those whose lesion is situated in an inaccessible or functionally critical area of the brain, making a surgical approach difficult or risky.

Selection of appropriate patients for Gamma Knife Radiosurgery is made by the Gamma Knife Team and is based on individual case analysis, taking into account existing imaging studies, physician records, and patient age and health.
